The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce supports many provisions in the proposed HEROES Act now under consideration in the U.S. House of Representatives. The N.J. Chamber especially supports the added financing to support small businesses and hospitals, as well as the funding of additional testing and monitoring for the coronavirus.
The Chamber also supports the elimination of the cap on SALT deductions, and federal financial support for states that have budgets ravaged by the pandemic. New Jersey has been hit especially hard by the COVID-19 outbreak and if we are to have a successful economic reopening, it is crucial that the federal government invest in New Jersey to help make up for the loss of tax revenue and the expenses of dealing with the pandemic.
We urge both parties in Washington to come together in a bipartisan manner and keep their focus on passing legislation that supports employers and employees, and puts all of the states in the strongest possible position for a successful economic reopening.
